Online video usage continues to explode, with more and more people watching online videos. Luckily, video production is no longer cost prohibitive. If you have a newer iPhone or Samsung phone in your pocket, you have what it takes to make a simple video for your business.

So, what can you do with video? Well, you can shoot an overview video of your business, videos for each of your service/product offerings or, better yet, get your customers in front of the camera and have them do a video testimonial that you can add to your website.

The example customer testimonial video below was shot on an iPhone 7, using a basic tripod with one LED light mounted above. Aside from the phone, the equipment cost about $20 – so cheap!

All we did was setup the camera, hit record and let the chiropractic patient tell their story about their journey working with a local chiropractor. The raw video was about 5 minutes long, but using the built in video editor on the phone, we cut the testimonial down to about 2 minutes. From there, all we did was click a button to publish it to YouTube. Then we take that YouTube link and drop it into the website. And we’re done. Simple, inexpensive asset-building.

The video below is a little longer, 7 minutes, but I think it’s worth your time to watch and review some best practices for responding to customer reviews online.

One added tip: when responding to customers online, feel free to insert keywords that are related to your services and market location. That way, you’ll get some added SEO juice from your responses.

For instance, a response from an attorney to a customer with a positive review could be “Thank you _____ for your kind words. We appreciate your business and are glad you’re happy with our services. As an estate planning attorney in Milwaukee, it’s always a great to hear what my customers have to say about their experience working with us. So thank you again.”

Notice we added a few keywords for this example: “estate planning attorney,” and their location “Milwaukee.” That may not seem like much, but it helps the website rank better on Google.

For our purposes, meta data is some coding that influences how well or poorly your website ranks on Google, and how likely or not you are to reach customers on Google.

Below is a short video that shows how you can use a free tool from Google Trends to show you what keywords your customers are searching for in your market area.

You can also measure relative search traffic by keyword/phrase, so you get a better sense of what people are searching for most often.

There’s a lot of value in knowing what your potential customers want and are looking for, and this tool shows you what’s popular and what’s not. It’s even drilled down to the state and local level. It’s a cool tool that I use regularly for market research. Enjoy.
